BREAKING: MAGA world melts down as anti-Trump film "The Apprentice" dominates the prestigious Canadian Screen Awards, racking up wins in numerous categories including best movie and best leading role, ending with the producer calling out Trump from the stage.
And it gets even better...
"Our movie shows how the young Donald Trump amassed wealth and power by finding a dilapidated building and slapping his name on it as president. We’ll see how that works out," said co-producer Daniel Bekerman while accepting one of the prizes.
"Now he wants to slap his name on this country. This is a challenge, but a good challenge, because as independent filmmakers and storytellers, what we need to do, what is our responsibility, is to tell stories with honesty that can build trust and build community," he continued.
"The rise of indigenous cinema in this country gives me hope. The rise of queer cinema in this country gives me hope. But we’re faced with power structures that want to silence us. It’s time to lock arms," said Bekerman.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the awards show "put marginalized voices front and center and challenged the global political landscape."
Sebastian Stan, the actor who played Trump and won best leading role, delivered a widely lauded performance that depicted Trump as the craven, opportunistic, predator he truly is. The film depicts a harrowing scene in which Trump sexually assaults his then-wife Ivana.
"The Apprentice" snagged five wins overall, winning Best Film, Best Lead Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Makeup, and Best Hair.
Bekerman hailed Canada for having the courage to recognize the film properly.
"But Ali, I told you, you have to come to Canada if you want to find some guts in this industry," he said to director Ali Abbasi.
Trump himself is acutely aware of the movie and previously unleashed a Truth Social rant calling it a "cheap, defamatory and politically disgusting hatchet job." He even threatened to sue over it, but never followed through.
Andrew Rankin, the winner of the best movie director prize for his movie "Universal Language," also appeared to throw some oblique shots at Donald Trump.
"We all know what political moment we’re living in. Every day there are new Berlin Walls shooting up all around us and pitting us against each other in very cruel binaries," he said. "And if our film stands for anything, it stands for the fact that kindness can be a radical gesture, and that’s really what we believe in now more than ever."
These awards send a resounding message to Donald Trump that Canada will not be terrorized into giving him respect that he so clearly does not deserve. Canada will never become the 51st state to fulfill his imperialist fantasies and his trade war will only end in economic disaster.
After Trump is long gone, this movie will remain, offering insight to future generations about the monster who once conned this nation into giving him the White House.
